This post was written in Danish in August 2017 and later translated into English. Only the language changed.
By now I have gathered enough gear to go on a small hike, so I can train and test it all.
So I am doing a little Trial Run
I am taking a long weekend in the Swedish outdoors, where I will walk part of Ås till Ås, which is a 160 km hike.
I have no plans to cover all 160 km though, since that would be unrealistic in such a short time.
I start the hike in Åstorp (I am walking west to east) and finish, well, I do not actually know. I finish wherever I am during Sunday 🙂 but I have no plans to complete the whole route.
But I have acquired a good part of the things on my “wish list”, so they need testing, to see what works and what does not.
Gear to be tested
It is mainly about testing my backpack, tent, sleeping bag and my fancy little gas stove 🙂
And then I can practise using trekking poles, which I have never tried. But it is recommended by pretty much everyone, so I had better do it 🙂
The weight of my pack will be moderate on this trip. I am aiming to load about 12 kg into the backpack. That is nowhere near the weight my pack will reach when I set off on my adventure, because then I also have to haul a fair bit of food and water.
But it will give a reasonable impression of what is waiting for me – I think 🙂
Vlog trial run
This is also the trip where I make my first vlog for my YouTube channel, where I hope YOU will come with some constructive feedback. Both on my editing, but also on content that is either missing or takes up too much room. Looking forward to hearing from you.
Want to come along?
If you have no plans on 21-24 September, you are welcome to come too. Write to me and we will sort out the practicalities 🙂
