Privacy
& cookies.

A plain-language account of what this site stores, what outside services may receive, and the choices you have.

Controller

Trailhunger is a personal website operated by Rod Clemen in Copenhagen, Denmark. Rod Clemen is the controller for the personal data described here. Privacy questions and requests can be sent to rod@trailhunger.dk.

When you browse the site

The web host may record an IP address, browser and device information, requested page, referring page, time and technical status in access or security logs. This is used to deliver and secure the site, prevent abuse and diagnose faults. The legal basis is the legitimate interest in operating a reliable and secure website under GDPR Article 6(1)(f). Logs are kept only for the period configured by the hosting provider and as long as needed for security or an incident, after which they are deleted or anonymised.

When you make contact

The contact form opens your own email application; text typed into it is not submitted to or stored by this website. If you send an email, Trailhunger and the relevant email providers process your name, email address, message and any information you choose to include so the message can be read and answered. The legal basis is the legitimate interest in handling correspondence under Article 6(1)(f), or Article 6(1)(b) when the message asks for steps before an agreement. Providing this information is voluntary. Correspondence is kept until the conversation and reasonable follow-up are complete, and longer only where needed for a legal claim or obligation.

Necessary preference storage

This storage is necessary to remember and document your choice and does not track you across websites. The theme does not use analytics, advertising or marketing cookies. Its fonts are hosted on Trailhunger, so merely loading the design does not contact Google Fonts.

Optional external media

Archived stories may contain YouTube or Vimeo videos, Google My Maps trail maps, or LighterPack gear lists. Connections to those providers are blocked before the page reaches your browser unless you choose “Allow external media.” If allowed, YouTube/Google, Vimeo or LighterPack may receive your IP address, browser and device information, the page visited and information about how you use the media, and may store or read cookies. The basis for this optional access and related personal-data processing is your consent under Article 6(1)(a).

You can refuse and still read all written content. Direct links are provided for blocked maps and gear lists. You can withdraw or change consent at any time with “Cookie settings” in the footer. Withdrawal blocks future media connections; it cannot undo processing that already occurred while consent was active. Your choice is requested again after 183 days or sooner if the purpose or technology changes.

Recipients and transfers

The web-hosting and email providers process the limited data described above to provide their services. YouTube/Google, Vimeo and LighterPack receive data through embedded media only after external-media consent. Links to PayPal, Instagram, YouTube, LighterPack and other sites do not send data merely by appearing here, but those services process data under their own notices when you follow a link. Some providers may process data outside the European Economic Area using an adequacy decision or contractual safeguards; their privacy notices provide the current details.

Your GDPR rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your personal data, object to processing based on legitimate interests, and withdraw consent at any time. Consent withdrawal does not affect processing already carried out lawfully. There is no automated decision-making or profiling by Trailhunger. Requests can be sent to the address above. You may also complain to Datatilsynet, the Danish Data Protection Agency.
